Some of the stuff that I bought has arrived, I bought it from the website shopee.com.my , I am going to start building it this weekend, still waiting for the charger, batteries,  from the website boll to arrive

This day I evaluated my own bike capable of being motorized. By the help of my neighbor and a bicycle shop owner, of the shop called “mikes bikes”

I also finally got the battery and the charger, they were both bought from “bol.coml”

Started building it, It was the first day of building the bike so I didn't want to go too hard on it, so I went with the easiest parts: I constructed the light and the beeper to bike, and also combined the chassis to the motor.

​

This day is probably the most tricky one because I connected the motor to the bikes frame, which I had to “shave” the chassis a bit so it would connect perfectly to the bike, so for the shaving part, I used the help of my neighbor who is a professional. I also started connecting the control box to the bike, which was also pretty difficult because it has many wires. 

I also had constructed the motor chain to the motor, I used the help of my neighbor because it was really tight and he had the right tools that could help me do it.

Kept connecting wires from the obstacles to the controller box, I had an accident, in which there was small fire on the wire that connects to the battery. However it didn't affect the bike so it is ok now. 

​

Finished connecting all the wires to the bike. I connected all the wires with tape, so it won't affect the driving. First tried if it moves. 

​

Had to connect the battery with the bike in a different way than tape because I wanted the batteries to be removable so we can charge them easily. Therefore I went buying straps.

Tried it on for the first time, it worked well for the distance that I have tried (20m).

Tried riding it to school, however I had another accident ): the wheel chain fell down on the way to school, so I had to call an Uber, remove the wheel from the bike, so there would be space for the bike to get in, then put the wheel back and go to school.

CRITERIA

Criteria-

To build an electric bike that can turn on/off, and move, with a battery that works well- this is a relevant and qualitative criteria because this is my main  goal in the project. 

To be able to control the speed easily without problems. This is relevant and qualitative, because it is one of the most important things in an electric bike. 

It’s speed has to be controlled easily, by using an effective speedometer.

Be environmental friendly 

 Nowadays the pollution is really destroying the earth, and the use of fuel  increases the damage, so we need to prevent it in our project and use other more environmentally friendly  substances. 

Smooth and effective brakes-

Needles to say, safety is a priority in this project so it's got to have a nice pair of brakes. Also for an enjoyable ride, after pressing the brakes, they have to stop immediately and smoothly. 

MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT

The global context-

The global context of my project is Scientific and technical innovation.

This global context is relevant because I am taking something that was used hundreds of years and upgrade it by using  scientific (physics)  and technical innovation.

Why did I choose it-

First of all, I love riding electric bikes and basically everything that has to do with wheels, like skateboards and scooters. In addition, I am attracted to things that have to do with an engine and motor, such as jet ski, motorcycle, smart cars and boats. 

Having said that, I always wanted to build something that combines the two and deeply understand how these things really work. 

Living in Amsterdam, I find it very useful to have an electric bike, because everyone uses a mechanical bike but if you would like to be a bit faster and have a more enjoyable ride, the combination of mechanical and electrical.
